Our Origins

The London Yoga Sangha was formed on a whim at the Work + Play coworking space near Finsbury Park. Caroline and Scarlett realized their shared love of the yoga practice and saw an opportunity to create the offerings they wanted to see more of in London.

Scarlett Trillia

Founder

Scarlett was introduced to yoga as a teenager and became a serious student of the practice in her 20s after meeting her long-time teacher/guru Justine Lemos PhD in 2015. Since that time she has earned her YTT-500, a trauma-informed teaching certificate, and her qualifications as an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counselor.

She and Justine continue to offer certification trainings to yoga teachers via The Western Yoga College and they record an off-beat weekly podcast series entitled Third Eye Roll.

In addition to studying, practicing, and teaching alongside Justine for over a decade, Scarlett has intensively studied Jyotish Astrology with teachers in both India and Europe. In 2024 she relocated from Northern California to North London, where she met and began practicing with Caroline.

Scarlett has spent her professional career working with early-stage startup ventures and is currently the CEO of a pet tech startup. She believes her yoga practices have greatly enhanced her ability to move with grace through the demands of the business world. Similarly, as a 2x cancer survivor, she credits Ayurveda and meditation as key factors in her successful return to health.

In addition to bringing a wealth of teaching experience to her London community, Scarlett offers 1-1 consultations and private sessions designed to provide customized wellness support to the individual. Her Ayurvedic consultations include pulse and tongue assessments, chart readings, subtle anatomy techniques, and individualized daily routines that include diet, exercise, and lifestyle recommendations.

Caroline Butler

Founder

Caroline Butler has been practising yoga for over twenty years and teaches in several North London studios, offering mostly Vinyasa Flow as well as Yin and Yin–Yang styles. She also runs Menopause Yoga London, offering workshops and classes to support women in perimenopause and beyond. Her teaching blends a deep respect for yoga’s roots and philosophy with a modern, functional approach that honours each body’s unique differences and needs. She is passionate about making yoga welcoming and accessible, while also offering space for those who wish to explore its meditative and spiritual dimensions.

Caroline has trained in Hatha, Yin, Yin–Yang, and Menopause Yoga, and studied with Jo Phee, senior student of Paul Grilley, in their functional approach.

Away from the mat, Caroline runs Convert Culture, an award-winning consultancy specialising in audience research and strategy for publishers and arts organisations. A former Head of Marketing at Penguin’s non-fiction division, she worked with numerous household names and oversaw spirituality and wellbeing imprints, collaborating with authors such as Dr Tara Swart, Brené Brown, Adam Grant and Gabor Mate.

Whether in the yoga studio or through her consultancy, Caroline brings the same curiosity, creativity, and care — connecting people with ideas, practices, and experiences that can enrich their lives. She offers weekly group classes, workshops, and 1–2–1 sessions that provide focused attention on where your body is right now and how each pose lands in it — a valuable way to start, return to, or deepen your practice with confidence and support.

She also writes The Shape It Takes, a Substack sharing reflections and resources to support and inspire your yoga, on and off the mat.
